We took our 5 1/2 year old cat to urgent care at Folsom Ranch Veterinary Hospital after a stressful weekend watching his health decline. By Monday morning we knew he was in pain, so we reached out to the nearest VCA urgent cares, only to find the shortest wait time was at least 5 hours. When we called Folsom Ranch Veterinary Hospital, they were understanding and accommodating, telling us to bring our cat right away. Although our drive from Sacramento was 24 miles, we can confidently say we made the best decision. The front desk concierge greeted us professionally and the staff were so sweet to our cat. We answered some routine questions and before we knew it, our cat was handed off to veterinarian, Dr. Dustin Noack. When it came time to discuss necessary tests, Dr. Noack was courteous, knowledgeable, and compassionate. He shared detailed reasons as to why he felt certain tests would be important – never once making us feel like our cat’s visit was a business transaction with upsells. We agreed on an initial care plan, had tests run, and went home with a few medications. We received a call early the following day just to see how our cat was doing – which we appreciated so much! While we saw some improvements with the first round of medications, our cat’s symptoms returned after a couple days. We called the vet back to share the developments. Without hesitation, they offered to create a same day appointment for him so we could avoid the higher urgent care rates! He was once again in Dr. Noack’s care, who was able to narrow the issues. Dr. Noack then prescribed stronger medications, based on the new developments, to bring our cat some relief. After the first week of the care plan, that included oral medications and probiotics, our cat is back to his old self! We had also discussed potential long term issues and will continue to work with Dr. Noack and the staff to put into place a preventative plan. The staff’s genuine concern shared toward our cat’s health and comfort was the silver lining we needed during such a stressful week. That level of care is something we’d drive well beyond 24 miles to get. It’s great to know there is a vet out there that can make you feel like they’re bringing you into a small community. It is also clear that a lot of thought and care went into developing the space itself. The rooms are clean and modern. Our cat enjoyed adventuring across the counter space and sitting with us on the couch when speaking with Dr. Noack and other staff members. The environment was very calm, which is especially important when bringing your cat into a new space. Thank you Folsom Ranch Veterinary Hospital!
